About Horizon Shenandoah

Where history meets horizon

Honoring the Land's History

The original farmhouse has stood in the valley for generations.
Instead of replacing it, we chose to build alongside it—blending the quiet character of the past with modern, Scandinavian-inspired cabins designed to honor the landscape.

About the Land

Set on nearly 75 acres, the property has deep roots in the Shenandoah Valley and remained in private family ownership for generations. The land unfolds across open pasture, wooded edges, and quiet hollows, with homes and outbuildings thoughtfully spaced throughout the landscape.

Alongside the historic main house and guest dwelling, the property continues to evolve through a small collection of thoughtfully designed cabins under development. Each structure—past and future—is placed with intention, preserving privacy, views, and the natural character of the land.

Historic outbuildings, including a horse barn and fenced run from prior agricultural use, remain as part of the landscape today.

Our Philosophy

We design with simplicity, calm, and intention.

Every window frames the mountains. Every material is chosen to feel natural

and grounded. Each space is meant to be quiet, restorative, and shaped

by the horizon itself.

About the Owners

The property is owned by Vivian and Josh, a husband-and-wife team inspired by their travels throughout Japan, particularly the quiet onsen towns known for their connection to nature, simplicity, and restorative design. Their goal is to bring that same sense of calm, intentionality, and respect for the surrounding landscape to the cabins they are developing in the Shenandoah Valley—creating spaces that encourage guests to slow down, unplug, and reconnect with nature.
